Poco X3 GT review

Image
Introduction Poco recently unveiled a couple of GT phones with the Poco X3 GT and Poco F3 GT. The duo is aimed at different regions - the X3 is for the middle East and Asia excluding India, while the F3 model is an India-exclusive. These new GT versions are meant to deliver speed on the budget, and they sure look intriguing. Today we are meeting the Poco X3 GT and we are ready to put it through its paces. Poco and Xiaomi, two supposedly independent companies, are once more trying their best to confuse us. See, the Poco X3 GT is not a new smartphone - it's a rebranded version of the  Chinese Redmi Note 10 Pro . The stress here is on  Chinese , as it has nothing to do with the  global Redmi Note 10 Pro . And in case you were wondering, yes, the other  F3 GT  model is also a recycled one - it's  the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition  for China. Long story short, the GT pair is not new, in fact, it's been selling in China for quite some time under the Redmi ...

Beta 4 of iOS 14.7 and iPadOS 14.7 starts rolling out to public beta testers today

Image
Apple is working on  iOS 15 with overhauled Facetime and Maps , but that’s not ready for public testing yet. Today it started rolling out iOS 14.7 and iPadOS Beta 4 to public beta testers, which could be the last public beta builds of the OS14 before the company will shift the focus of beta testing to version 15. Public betas or not, Apple will  continue to update iOS 14 This new version isn’t particularly exciting, it just restores the battery service messages that had disappeared from some iPhone 11 units. If you have this message, you still need to service your phone – iOS 14.7 isn’t going to fix it. At least that’s the extent of the changes according to  the official changelog . Expect to see a release candidate for this version of iOS within a couple of weeks. Note that also releasing today are macOS Big Sur 11.5 beta 4, watchOS 7.6 beta for and tvOS 14.6 – you guessed it – beta 4. The  Big Sur changelog , the  tvOS one  and the  watchOS one ...

Android 12 Beta 4 rolling out to Pixel phones with Platform Stability

Image
Android 12 is currently in the beta phase and today, the fourth release of Android 12 Beta (not including the Developer Previews) is rolling out to Pixel devices now. The   Android Developers Blog   advises that this is a significant release as it moves Android 12 into the final phase of testing. Android 12 Beta 4 has reached Platform Stability, a milestone that means all app-facing surfaces and behaviors are now final in Android 12. This includes not only the official SDK and NDK APIs, but also final app-facing system behaviors and restrictions on non-SDK interfaces that may affect apps. So from Beta 4, you can confidently release your compatibility updates knowing that the platform won’t change. Developers should “start final compatibility testing for apps, SDKs, and libraries,” as Android 12’s app behaviors won’t be changing between now and the final public release of Android 12. This means we are closer to seeing the final release of Android 12, which should be debu...

Report hints Foxconn will use new camera assembly method for iPhone 13

Image
According to a report from   The Elec , Apple will be changing its camera module production process. The report explains that Apple normally purchased pre-assembled camera modules from its suppliers which would then be assembled into smartphones. Up to last year, Apple has procured double and triple camera modules from its suppliers LG InnoTek, Sharp, and O’Film that are pre-assembled. The Elec  reports that a Korean supplier Hyvision System will be supplying Focxonn with “camera module inspection equipment.” This kind of equipment is used to inspect the alignment of axes of various camera sensors. This suggests that Apple will no longer be supplied with fully assembled double and triple camera modules, but rather it will purchase individual camera sensors and produce the assemblies itself. But it is now procuring these camera modules individually and gave the job of assembly to Foxconn. The measure is being done to save cost. Hyvision will be supplying its inspection k...
